Anti-slavery abolitionist and champion of women's rights. In 1824 she published Immediate not Gradual Abolition, a pamphlet demanding the boycott of sugar grown on slave plantations and describing gradual abolition as 'the very masterpiece of satanic policy'. She was outraged to discover that the World Anti-Slavery Convention of 1840 prevented women from speaking.
