Ellis was one of the chorus members of the In Dahomey company that travelled from New York and was featured in the second act as one of the singers of 'I wants to be a Actor Lady'. The full cast numbered over a hundred players and the production opened in London on the 16th May 1903 at the Shaftesbury Theatre and ran for over 250 performances.
