Trade union leader and writer. Educated at Port Talbot County School and Swansea Technical College, Jenkins started work in a metallurgical test house in 1940. In 1946 he began working for the Association of Scientific Workers, and the rest of his life was dedicated to being a professional trades unionist. Jenkins built up the membership and amalgamated smaller unions until, in 1970, the Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial Staffs (ASTAMS) was the largest white-collar union.
