'You and I are queer' Mug, Tim Walker x Joe Sweeney for the NPG

To mark the occasion of Tim Walker's Fairyland, Joe Sweeney presents a commemorative mug with the words 'You and I are queer'. This quietly celebratory artefact is an ode to existence; inspired by the 17th century plate 'you and I art earth', found in a London sewer.

About the Artist

Joe Sweeney b 1991, London, is a multi-media conceptual artist. His practice stems from a personal struggle with communication, exploring the tension between misunderstand and connection. He captures fleeting moments in expression of the intangibility of time.

Tim Walker’s Fairyland is an exploration of queer identity, community, and love through the lens of one of Britain’s foremost photographers. This exhibition will take visitors on a journey into Walker’s inner world – a vivid tapestry woven from his many inspirations and influences. Walker’s Fairyland is a place where everyone has the freedom to be themselves.
