William Callow was a painter of landscapes, buildings and seascapes. He was articled at the age of eleven to the engraver Theodore Fielding. He went to Paris in 1829, where he worked under Newton Fielding, and later established himself there as a teacher. He was much influenced by the work of Thomas Shotter Boys.
