Norwegian-born Lemkow (1918-91), moved to England in 1946 with his first wife, the actress and director Mai Zetterling. He pursued a ballet career but went on to play small parts in films, starting with The Lost People (1949), in which Zetterling starred. Lemkow appeared on the London stage in comedies such as Thieves' Carnival (1952), and had numerous dance roles in films including Moulin Rouge (1952) and The Captain's Paradise (1953).
