Partridge favoured a Victorian style of dignified humour. Finding Morrison's proposal to create a non-building zone around London fantastical, he depicted him as the King of the Fairies in a cartoon published in January 1935 with the inscription: 'Oberon (Mr Herbert Morrison) to Puck. “You can 'put a girdle round about the earth in forty minutes.'
