This caricature was published to mark Buller's command in the Anglo-Boer war being succeeded by General Roberts. The week after publication, Buller met further setbacks at Spion Kop, in his attempts to relieve the siege of Ladysmith. Buller finally relieved Ladysmith on 28 February 1900.
