Known as 'The Radical Countess', Rosalind Frances Howard (née Stanley) was a campaigner for women's suffrage and temperance reform. She married George Howard, 9th Earl of Carlisle, a politician, long-serving Trustee of the National Gallery, and an accomplished artist in 1864.
