Writer and librettist. Born in Southwark, Myfanwy Evans studied at North London Collegiate School and St Hugh's College, Oxford before meeting the artist John Piper. Together they founded the art magazine Axis (1935-7), which helped place the Pipers at the forefront of the avant-garde. Her publications included the anthology Sea Poems (1945) and a study of Frances Hodgkins (1948).
