Played the Dahomian Queen during the prologue of In Dahomey. She subsequently appeared in four American films; The Rise of the Johnsons, He Wanted Work (both 1914), Within Our Gates and The Brute (both 1920 and directed and written by Oscar Micheaux). Micheaux was the first African American to produce a sound feature film).
