The pious and beautiful Maria Clementina was granddaughter to King John III of Poland, and goddaughter to Pope Clement XI. When she was sixteen she married James Francis Edward Stuart, the exiled King of Great Britain. They settled in Rome, but the marriage soon degenerated.
