Born in Whitby, North Yorkshire, Margaret Ethel Jameson studied at Leeds University and King's College, London. The author of 45 novels, poems, essays and reviews, Jameson managed to earn a living primarily through writing after 1928 enjoying a bohemian and anarchic life in London.
