Robin Day and Lucienne Day trained and met at the Royal College of Art. They married in 1942 and have become the most celebrated British design couple of the postwar era. The Days played a starring role at the 1951 Festival of Britain: Robin designed the furniture for the new Royal Festival Hall and Heals launched Lucienne's Calyx fabric design to mark the event.
