This Diaghilev ballet staged at the Coliseum was set to music by the eighteenth century French composer Monteclair and was arranged and orchestrated by H. Casasesus. The costumes and set were designed by Juan Gris who drew inspiration from the painter Watteau. The dance was choreographed by Nijinska and included elements of eighteenth century dance technique combined with classical ballet. The ballet told the story of a shepherdess in love with a shepherd.
