Actress and singer, Collins's early stage career was in the music halls and pantomimes, including appearances in Glasgow with Harry Lauder. In 1911 she went to New York and established herself as a singer, and upon returning London in 1916, she shot to fame the following year as Teresa in the operetta The Maid of the Mountains at Daly's Theatre.
