John Thane, printseller and engraver, carried on business for many years in Soho, London, and became famous for his expert knowledge of pictures, coins and medals. A friend of Joseph Strutt, engraver and antiquary, he published Strutt's Regal and Ecclesiastical Antiquities of England in 1773.
