Nobel prize-wining economist and political philosopher. Hayek left Austria to teach at the London School of Economics (1931-50) and became naturalised in 1938. His most significant works on economic and political theory include The Road to Serfdom (1944) and The Constitution of Liberty (1960). His criticism of state regulation and support for free-market capitalism proved particularly influential to the policies of Margaret Thatcher.
