Cadbury was a botanist, who became an expert on Patamogeton, commonly known as pondweeds. Already a member of the Botanical Society of the British Isles, in 1950 Cadbury joined the Birmingham Natural History Society (BNHS) and recorded all of the flowering plants in the city's Edgbaston Park.
