Lady Boyle volunteered for the Red Cross in Serbia during the First World War, providing ambulance services to the wounded and aid to refugees. The Serbian Relief Fund was set up in London in 1914 to offer financial, material and humanitarian assistance to Serbian people affected by the war. Members of the fund included Winston Churchill, Sir James Berry and Lady Berry. Lady Boyle became Honorary Treasurer of the fund and was appointed Acting British Commissioner for Serbia in 1915.
