This is one of a set of forty lantern slides, which along with the accompanying pamphlet, shows the Livingstone myth at its most potent. Livingstone, the pamphlet begins, 'made the way for liberty in Africa by his own daring and suffering'. This slide shows Livingstone's body being carried through the jungles of Africa by the faithful negroes, Jacob Wainwright, Chuma and Susi.
