First President and Commander-in Chief of the State of Uganda from 1963. Educated in Uganda and Magdalene College, Cambridge. As the 36th Kabaka of Buganda Sir Frederick Mutesa became a symbol of the independent people of Buganda. Exiled to Britain in 1966, where he was known as 'King Freddie'. Published his memoirs The Desecration of My Kingdom in 1967.
