Nehru was home-schooled in British India in both Western and Indian education, before graduating from Trinity College, Cambridge and Inner Temple. He trained as a barrister before returning to India to practice law. He joined the Indian National Congress party (1919) becoming a close ally to Gandhi, though both had differing views on many issues.
