Dyke, Catherine Opie, Carabiner Keyring

Prix habituel £6.00

This carabiner keyring accompanies the exhibition Catherine Opie: To Be Seen. Featuring the word Dyke in yellow and black on the front and the exhibition title on the reverse, with metal hardware at each end to easily attach to your bag or belt. The design of the wording is based on Opie's portrait titled Dyke, taken in 1993. The image features Opie's friend Steakhouse with a tattoo of the word Dyke on her back, a reclamation of the homophobic slur.

About the exhibition

Catherine Opie: To Be Seen showcases photographic portraits by the American artist Catherine Opie. It is the first major museum exhibition of her work in the UK. Opie’s work questions representations of home, intimacy and family, and on a national and international level explores politics, identity and power structures. Her photographs make visible queer communities, mentors and collaborators, children, surfers, high school footballers, political crowds and Opie herself, through self-portraiture.
