Dyke, Catherine Opie, Baseball Cap

Regular price £28.00

This black baseball cap accompanies the exhibition Catherine Opie: To Be Seen. It features the word Dyke embroidered in yellow on the front and the NPG monogram on the reverse, it is also fully adjustable for the perfect fit. The design of the wording is based on Opie's portrait titled Dyke, taken in 1993 which features Opie's friend Steakhouse with a tattoo of the word Dyke on her back, a reclamation of the homophobic slur.

About the exhibition

Catherine Opie: To Be Seen showcases photographic portraits by the American artist Catherine Opie. It is the first major museum exhibition of her work in the UK. Opie’s work questions representations of home, intimacy and family, and on a national and international level explores politics, identity and power structures. Her photographs make visible queer communities, mentors and collaborators, children, surfers, high school footballers, political crowds and Opie herself, through self-portraiture.
