Advocate, Attorney-General (1910) and Lord Chief Justice (1913-21). Isaacs entered Parliament as Liberal MP for Reading (1904) and was created Baron in 1914, serving as Ambassador and High Commissioner in the United States (1918-19), Viceroy of India (1921-6) and Foreign Secretary in Ramsay Macdonald's National Government in 1931.
