WSPU member Flora Drummond was known for daring stunts, including the incident depicted here, in which she hired a boat so that she could petition Members of Parliament who were sitting on the riverside terrace at the Palace of Westminster. The sender of this postcard wrote that special frames could be purchased so that these postcards could be displayed on a mantelpiece, where they would proclaim support for the cause.
