The daughter of Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, granddaughter of Queen Victoria and through her mother the Czar of Russia. Marie married Ferdinand, Crown Prince of Romania in 1893. There she became interested in folk costume and often wore national dress. Marie devoted much of her time to charitable works.
