Parnell watches as his counsel, Sir Charles Russell, cross-examines O'Shea. Captian O'Shea , whose evidence gave strong support to The Times case, was a bitter political enemy of Parnell and the husband of his mistress. In December, 1889, O'Shea named Parnell as co-respondent in divorce proceedings which finally led to Parnell's downfall.
