Sir Christopher Robinson trained in the law and came to prominence as an advocate of maritime law. In 1809 he was appointed as King's Advocate, after which he appeared in nearly all cases relating to prizes captured on the high seas. Robinson entered Parliament as an MP in 1818. In 1821, he became Chancellor of the Diocese of London, and in 1828 Judge of the High Court of the Admiralty.
