Cuban novelist, essayist, translator, critic and screenwriter. In the 1950's he used the pseudonym 'G. Cain'. He is best known for the novel 'Tres Tristes Tigres' ('Three Sad Tigers'), published in English as 'Three Trapped Tigers' (1966).
