One of the most important artistic revolutionaries of the twentieth century, Braque grew up in Le Havre, France. After attending the city's École Supérieure d'Art, he moved to Paris to continue his training, studying at the Academy Humbert. From 1909, his friendship and partnership with Pablo Picasso lead to the joint creation of Cubism, an artistic collaboration that lasted until 1914. He was made a Commander of the Legion of Honour in 1951.
