George Augustus Sala Greetings Card
Blank greetings card with envelope featuring:
George Augustus Sala NPG Ax9166
© National Portrait Gallery, London
by Walery, published by Sampson Low & Co
Although suffering from near constant ill heath and partially blind, Sala took pains to present himself as a consummate man about town. This elegant portrait by the society photographer Walery gives a good indication of the man who, in 1857, founded the Savage Club for 'gentlemen connected with literature and the fine arts, and warmly interested in the promotion of knowledge, and the sale of excisable liquors'.
Card size: 125mm x 175mm
Images are printed in their original proportions, within a white border.
