Archbishop of Westminster (1976-99), a widely admired and much loved religious leader. He was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1950, became Abbot of Ampleforth (1963-76) and Cardinal (1976). His publications include Searching for God (1977) and To Be a Pilgrim (1984).
