A Free Church of Scotland minister, Keith established his reputation through the Evidence of the Truth of the Christian Religion from the Fulfilment of Prophecy (1823) designed as a refutation of the naturalist philosophy of David Hume. The book was widely translated, and became an enormously popular and influential work of the time.
