Trumpeter. Born in Preston, Lancashire where he joined the Preston Town Silver Band at the age of 11. In the 1940s played with Billy Ternet and Geraldo before forming his own group. In the 1953 he had a number one hit with O Mein Papa and became known as The Man with the Golden Trumpet.
