Green Party peer, President of the Family Farmers Association, priest and writer. Educated at Oxford and Cambridge and began religious career in 1955. Co-ordinator of The Green Alliance (1978-80), began work for the Liberal Party in 1962 and as a spokesman on conservation and the countryside in the House of Lords (1993-98). Joined the Green Party in 1999, since when he has acted as spokesman on agriculture.
