Robert Dodsley Greetings Card
Blank greetings card with envelope featuring:
Robert Dodsley NPG 1436
© National Portrait Gallery, London
attributed to Edward Alcock
Dodsley's friend, the poet William Shenstone, patronised the itinerant artist, Edward Alcock, and described his work: 'He finishes highly in miniature . . . he paints well in enamel.' The use of oil on tin as a support for this portrait is rare but not unique. More detailed information on this portrait is available in a National Portrait Gallery collection catalogue, John Kerslake's Early Georgian Portraits (1977, out of print).
Card size: 125mm x 175mm
Images are printed in their original proportions, within a white border.
