by George White, after Sir Godfrey Kneller, Bt
Peter Vanderbank moved to London in 1674. The first two plates that he made in England, two heads of Charles II, were considered by far the finest seen in the country up to that date, and established both Vanderbanks's reputation and his financial independence. Vanderbank initially published his own plates, but later worked mostly for other publishers and booksellers. He was no relation of the portrait painter John Vanderbank.
Card size: 125mm x 175mm
Images are printed in their original proportions, within a white border.
