Nola Ishmael joined the Department of Health in 1994 and at the end of her first year became Professional Private Secretary to the then Chief Nursing Officer. She currently works in the Public Health and Clinical Quality Directorate of the Department of Health and has the nursing lead on Sexual Health, Substance Misuse, Alcohol, Nutrition and Occupational Health. She advises the Chief Nursing Officer on Ethnic Minority issues/Health and on Ethnic staff development in the NHS.
