Victor Rothschild studied at Cambridge University, where he was a member of the Apostles society and was friends with Guy Burges and Anthony Blunt. He inherited his title in 1937 on the death of his uncle, Walter Rothschild. During World War II Rothschild worked for MI5, in charge of its counter-sabotage section.
