The Jesuits, a religious order of evangelical Catholics, were outlawed in England and forced to live by concealment and disguise. Garnett was the head of the Jesuits in England. He was enthusiastic about the accession of James I, believing that greater toleration of Catholicism would follow. He condemned Catholic conspiracies but was accused of being the mastermind behind the Gunpowder Plot. He was found guilty of treason and was hanged, drawn and quartered.

Card size: 125mm x 175mm
