Athlete; Christie is the only British man to win Olympic, World, Commonwealth and European 100 metres gold medals. At the 1988 Seoul Olympics, he was awarded silver when the Canadian runner, Ben Johnson, was disqualified for a doping offence. He also won silver in the men's 4 x 100m relay at the same games.
