Best known for his illustrations for Punch magazine, Partridge previously worked as an actor under the pseudonym Bernard Gould before entering the world of political caricature in 1891. His social circle included many theatrical greats of the 19th century, including Sir Henry Irving, Dame Ellen Terry and Sir Johnston Forbes-Robertson.
