Murry was an Oxford undergraduate when he met Katherine Mansfield in 1911 and was at the time co-editor with the artist J. D. Fergusson of Rhythm, a bi-lingual quarterly described by D. H. Lawrence, before meeting Murry, as 'a daft paper', though he thought 'the folks seem rather nice'.
