Anne, Queen of Hungary wrongly identified as Lady Jane Grey Portrait Print
Anne, Queen of Hungary wrongly identified as Lady Jane Grey NPG D24992
© National Portrait Gallery, London
by Robert William Sievier, and John Brydone, after Hans Maler
The inscription on this print claims that the portrait is based on an original picture by Hans Holbein in the collection of Col. Elliott of Nottingham. As with the Heroologia print and others, Hans Holbein's name is frequently associated with erroneously identified portraits of Lady Jane. We cannot say if Col. Elliott deliberately misidentified the portrait or whether he was genuinely mistaken.
