Frances Spalding is an art historian, critic and biographer. She specialises in twentieth-century British art and, with her biographies of Roger Fry, Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, is also regarded as an authority on Bloomsbury. Awarded a CBE in 2005, she is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art and currently an Emeritus Fellow of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge.
