Menon arrived in England in 1924 to attend the London School of Economics. He took his BSc with first class honours in 1927, followed by a MSc in political science and then an MA in psychology from University College, London in 1930. He was called to the bar at Middle Temple in 1934. He settled in London, and although he and Sir Allen Lane started Penguin Books in 1935, his energies were devoted to supporting Indian nationalism.
