As chairman of the British Railways Board in the early 1960s, Richard Beeching was responsible for what became popularly known as the 'Beeching Axe'. This streamlined British Rail by making massive reductions in track, stations and staff. He is represented in a 'sculptoon', a cartoon in clay designed to be photographed for publication in the press. Explore this portrait from all angles.
