Parkinson started his career as an apprentice with photographers Speaight & Son, before opening his first studio at 1, Dover Street off Piccadilly. During the 1930s his work appeared in Harper's Bazaar and The Bystander. From 1941 Parkinson began a long association with Vogue, where, with his wife, actress Wenda Rogerson, he made some of his most enduring fashion images.
